I found an inexpensive and easy way to clean mushrooms. Instead of buying an official mushroom brush just use a soft bristle toothbrush. The small head makes it easy to clean all of the nooks and crannies in the mushrooms and the long handle is comfortable to use. When it gets dirty, just put it in the dishwasher.

I love to volunteer for my daughter's homeroom but my name never seemed to come up when it came to sending any food for holiday room parties. I admit that I am not the best baker but when it is something important I work hard at getting it right. My daughter came home with a note last month asking if I could send two dozen holiday decorated cupcakes for the class party. I was thrilled!! I bought the cupcake liners, powdered sugar, food coloring and red and green sprinkles. I thought that the cupcakes might be a little top heavy so I decided to double up on the liners. The cupcakes came out so good looking and I was thrilled. I worked hard on the frosting and the decorating and realized that I could not take them out of the cupcake pan without disturbing the cupcakes. The cupcake pans were brand new so I decided to just take them in the pans themselves. I went to the party and was so happy when the children and parents oohed and aahed over the cupcakes. Then one little boy took one out and when he took it out of the paper he grimaced. The double liners ended up burning the bottom of the cupcakes as well as sticking like glue. By the time the peeling was done the cupcake was little more than charred crumbs! I was so embarrassed for myself and my daughter. The teacher was kind enough to say that the top of the cupcakes were beautiful and maybe they were better meant to look at than to eat. I have a feeling it will be a long, long, long time before I am asked to donate food again!
